Based in Austin, Texas, I am a writer, editor, and professional book critic covering a wide range of nonfiction genres, including the arts, education, language and linguistics, travel and cultural studies, public policy, and social and environmental issues, for publications such as the American Library Association’s Booklist and Kirkus Reviews. I am also the founding editor of Literary West Review, an online journal that explores the literary life of the modern American West through literary criticism and cultural analysis, and a member of the National Book Critics Circle.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in English with honors from The University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in communications with highest honors from the University of Denver.
